Legend of Vibram

Vibram was founded by Vitale Bramani in Milan in 1937. As you can see, the company name is the first few letters of the founder’s given name and family name. Why Vitale Bramani set up the company is because he was a climber and almost lost his life in a disaster when climbing the Alps in the 1930s due to the poor equipment, and he was determined to make special soles for mountaineering shoes to better protect climbers. Through years of R&D, Vitale Bramani employed the technology of making auto tires to develop the world’s first pairs of rubber outsoles, which greatly improved the safety of mountaineering.
